During the golden age<\/em>, which began in the 1950s, Italy achieved the “miracle” of convergence, a process that enabled the realignment of southern regions with northern ones, a substantial reduction in the gap between Italy and Europe’s most advanced countries, and a growth rate in the European continent that exceeded that of the United States. In this complex scenario, the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno (Southern Development Fund) played a fundamental role, implementing policies to address territorial disparities and creating a comprehensive development plan. The quantitative data used in this volume has enabled a more accurate regional and sectoral breakdown of the invested funds. The analysis was conducted considering economic metrics in both absolute and relative terms, following a diachronic and synchronic approach. The text highlights the Fund’s merit in adopting a unified development model while taking into account local peculiarities, based on approved regulations.
