Full Professor of Economic History at the Department of Economics, Business and Statistics of the University of Palermo
Previously, he taught at the universities of Turin (2011-16), Helsinki (2017-19), and NTNU (2019-25), holding the chair of Political Science. He served as economic advisor to the Norwegian Government. His research interests primarily focus on the theory and history of capitalism. Among his main publications, translated into various languages, are The Poverty of Clio: Resurrecting Economic History (Princeton UP 2011) and Foretelling the End of Capitalism (Harvard UP 2020), as well as the Routledge Handbook of Global Economic History (2016) co-edited with Pat Hudson.
