Previously, he was a research fellow at the University of Insubria, Bocconi University, and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bologna.

He has taught at Bocconi University, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the University of Insubria, and the Polytechnic University of Milan.

His main research interests are in the field of economic history and business history: managerial culture, technological and organizational innovation, public enterprises, industrial policies, and structural change.
