La Cassa per il Mezzogiorno tra lotta alla povertà e strategie di sviluppo
During the golden age, which began in the 1950s, Italy achieved the "miracle" of convergence, a process that enabled the realignment of southern regions with northern ones, a substantial reduction in the gap between Italy and Europe's most advanced countries, and a growth rate in the European continent that exceeded that of the United States. In this complex scenario, the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno (Southern Development Fund) played a fundamental role, implementing policies to address territorial disparities and creating a comprehensive development plan. The quantitative data used in this volume has enabled a more accurate regional and sectoral breakdown of the invested funds. The analysis was conducted considering economic metrics in both absolute and relative terms, following a diachronic and synchronic approach. The text highlights the Fund's merit in adopting a unified development model while taking into account local peculiarities, based on approved regulations. In this way, it aims to provide an original contribution to the extensive existing historiography on these topics.
