What is the purpose of the portal?

The web portal The evaluation of regional development policies in Italy through a new database (from the 1950s to the 2000s) offers free access to quantitative databases on measures supporting the industrialization of Southern Italy, starting with the Extraordinary Intervention of the 1950s, continuing with the “New Programming” of the late 1990s, up to the most recent cohesion policies. The databases available on this portal are:

1) Incentives of the extraordinary intervention for industrial investments (1959-1993);

2) Incentives of the cohesion policy for businesses;

3) The IMI Fund for Applied Research, 1969-2001;

4) Svimez statistics 1861-2011;

5) Employment in Manufacturing Industry in Italy (1937–2021).

How can I access the resources?

The data in the portal, with the exception of SVIMEZ statistics, are geolocated and can be accessed through the “Map” and “Data Table” sections present on the pages dedicated to each database. The criteria used for constructing the databases can be found in their respective methodological notes.

Can I use the portal's resources?

The data in the portal can be downloaded on the pages dedicated to each database. In addition to disaggregated data in csv format, there are also summary tables with data aggregated at various territorial and/or thematic levels.The portal has exclusive purposes of promoting scientific research and disseminating knowledge. The data are released under the Creative Commons Attribution – Non-Commercial – Share Alike 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
The use of the data is free, however it is necessary to cite the source according to the methods described on the home page of each of the four databases.
It is forbidden to use the contents of the site in any way for private or commercial purposes.
